Philips Respironics

CPAP and Ventilation Humidifiers are very helpful, and often a necessity, when people suffer from a dry mouth and nose, nasal irritation and allergies etc., and the heated humidity helps address these problems and can make a huge difference to peoples therapy by eliminating the discomfort the cold air can cause.

This Humidifier is for the new Philips Respironics' DreamStation range of machines.

It's worth knowing that people who have a Paypal account, can apply for Paypal Credit for purchases over £99.00 to spread the payments over 4 months with no added interest (0%).  The agreement is via yourself and Paypal who will pay our charity the full amount upon purchase, and more details can be found here https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/paypal-virtual-credit

This is the Heated Humidifier for the  Philips Respironics' DreamStation series machines and is fully integrated so that it connects to the DreamStation and can quickly be detached when needed.

The DreamStation Humidifier has the same 'Dry Box' technology currently used on their System One machines, meaning the risk of water spillage in the device is practically eliminated.  The filled water chamber can be tilted and even turned upside down without leaking, and should any water manage to escape the chamber, the 'Dry Box' prevents it from entering the device.

The Humidifier offers a standard fixed heating mode as well as an "Adaptive" mode, which automatically adjusts heat and moisture levels.

Adaptive Humidification Option

When paired with a DreamStation machine, the DreamStation Humidifier can be set in "Adaptive" mode, allowing the device to monitor ambient temperature and humidity levels in order to adjust the heating levels as needed. Adaptive humidification is intended to provide optimum moisture to therapy air while lowering the chances of condensation building in the hose. The humidifier can also be set to fixed humidification if the user wishes to maintain one heating level throughout the night.

User-Friendly Chamber Design

The DreamStation Humidifier features an easily accessible water chamber which is located in the center of the device. Release the lid by gently pushing forward on the tab located on the top of the humidifier. The panel will open completely, exposing the clear, water chamber.

Dry Box Technology

'Dry Box' technology was created to help reduce the chance of water damage when the OPTIONAL humidifier is used with the DreamStation machine. In the instance that water may escape from the water chamber, the Dry Box is designed to trap the water within the walls of the unit to prevent water from travelling through the machine and humidifier connection. Additionally, the air outlet port uses a one way valve to prevent water from exiting the water chamber and entering the machine. The air outlet port is located on the top of the chamber to help minimize total water displacement.

Compatible Hose Options

Respironics' DreamStation Heated Humidifier is compatible with three hose types. The user may select between a standard 22mm hose, a slim 15mm hose, or the (OPTIONAL) DreamStation slim 15mm heated hose. The variety of hose options allows for a combination based on individual preferences.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. The Humidifier does not include the optional heated hose and should be purchased separately if required.

  2. The DreamStation Heated Humidifier is ONLY compatible with Philips Respironics DreamStation Series machines.

  3. Any unused water should be discarded every morning, as it is a perfect breeding ground for germs and bacteria and mould can form. The humidifier should also be rinsed out daily and at least once a week given a deeper wash.

  4. Distilled Water is better to use as there will be no build up of minerals and limescale in the humidifier chamber which will need more thorough cleaning, but it is difficult to find in the UK and expensive. However, if the water is safe to drink then it is safe to use in the humidifier. (It just means that using tap or mineral water will require more rigorous cleaning of the humidifier chamber).

  5. NEVER use Deionised Water in the humidifier as it is unsafe for respiratory equipment.

  6. NEVER place anything except water inside the humidifier, such as menthol crystals or aromatherapy oil etc, which will damage the humidifier and the machine, and is not medically safe.

Improved comfort
24 January 2023  |

I have been using APAP for over a year without a humidifier but noticed dry nose then marked nasal congestion often waking me up. The humidifier has made a real difference to overnight comfort so it was a good decision to buy. It connects up easily clipping to the main machine. I haven’t got a heated tube just fleece hose cover but always use preheat. I filter my water (soft) boil then cool it as opposed to buying distilled water. The humidifier opens from the top to fill and empty the water chamber. so has to sit on top of my bedside cabinet now as opposed to within the open shelf which was more discreet. You need to empty then clean chamber every day along with your mask and to avoid a damp smell from the hose need to clean that regularly as well. I’m pleased I bought this humidifier it’s a simple heated water chamber and I wasn’t sure it was a necessity but it definitely has helped reduce my nasal reactions to APAP seems to have improved my pressures and reduced my need for Pirinase spray and medication.

Response:

Thanks for the in-depth review and also pointing out the benefits of pre-heating the humidifier which lots of people forget to do, and it really can make a big difference.

ORDERS

Shipping

We try our best to ship all orders received by us Monday-Friday on the same working day if received before 12 noon, and more often than not orders processed before 3pm will be despatched the same day whenever possible.  Weekend or UK bank holiday orders are sent out the next working day.  An automated email is sent when products have been despatched so please check your spam box and add us to your safe senders list.  Also, if you do not receive an email confirmation, please check that you have typed the correct email address in your account.

All orders are sent via 1st class mail within the UK.  Masks and some other more expensive products are always sent via 'signed for' insured delivery and cannot be left in 'safe' places, but there is the option for an alternative shipping address when processing the orders.

Delivery charges are worked out automatically by weight and you can clearly see the delivery charges before making a payment.  On the rare occasion delivery charges are miscalculated by the website, a refund will be sent, as it is not our policy to make money on postage charges and neither do we add the cost of delivery into the price and offer so-called  'free delivery' like some sites and Ebay pressurise sellers to do!

Wherever possible with larger parcels, we try to re-use boxes to keep shipping costs down and protect the environment.

If a product is out of stock and the order contains multiple items, the 'in stock' items will be sent immediately and further items will follow upon arrival with no further postage charges incurred.

Important for International Orders

We can ship most products internationally, but all prices are in UK British Pounds and if paying by debit or credit card the bank will automatically convert to the current conversation rate.  Likewise, if you choose the Paypal option, they will convert into your currency for you as payment is made.

International orders are sent via tracked Airmail, and whilst we're happy to ship internationally, we cannot be held responsible for any delays at Customs at your end, or charges that may be added in your own country, such as customs fees and import tax on delivery, which are determined by your country’s import laws and are beyond our control. Therefore, it is the customer’s responsibility to pay these charges, and certain courier companies will not be able to deliver the goods to you without pre-payment of any charges. From our experience, it appears to be randomised as to which parcels incur extra charges, but please know that all accompanying paperwork is filled in correctly when shipping and there is nothing more we can do, as much as we'd like to.

If you purchase from us out of the UK or you move to another country after purchasing products, please be aware that the warranty for CPAP machines, masks and parts from the manufacturers are under warranty  with the manufacturer based in the UK, so you will be responsible for sending the product back to us and will need to pay postage to get the product back to you after exchange or repair, as the manufacturer will not pay for shipping in any country outside of the UK.

RETURNS

Masks, CPAP machines and and most other products are exempt from a refund or exchange unless faulty due to health and hygiene issues - as stated in our 'Terms and Conditions', and in particular due to the risk of cross contamination as they cannot be re-sold. The Consumer Contracts Regulations 28.(3)(a) confirms exemption as follows:-  "exemption in the case of a contract for the supply of sealed goods which are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons, if they become unsealed after delivery."

Unopened (sealed) products in their original packing can be returned within 14 days for a refund of the product cost, but the purchaser is to pay the return postage, and we would advise retaining proof of postage. This excludes any faulty goods, for which postage will be reimbursed.  A full refund for the price of the product will be issued when received by us, less the original postage charges when the order was sent to you.
