SleepSeal say:-

The SleepSeal Inhalation and Open Valve devices have been found to be highly effective in keeping the lips closed in many individuals who experience mouth leaks while using CPAP or other forms of positive pressure therapy.

In addressing mouth leaks, it can provide a more successful alternative to chin straps or full face masks and commonly completely eliminates mouth leaks.

This valve allows the user to breathe in comfortably as needed, while maintaining the natural lip seal during sleep to prevent mouth leaks and air escape out of the mouth during the night. It contains a one-way valve that directs air into the mouth if the user needs to breathe in, while prohibiting passive exhalation or air leakage. The user is able to forcefully exhale as needed. This valve can be used with CPAP or other PAP therapy to reduce or prevent mouth leaks.

THE SLEEPSEAL DEVICES ARE NOT A TREATMENT FOR SLEEP APNEA; THEY ARE ONLY DEVICES DESIGNED TO MAINTAIN THE NATURAL LIP SEAL THAT NORMALLY OCCURS DURING SLEEP, IN INDIVIDUALS WHOSE MOUTHS FALL OPEN DURING SLEEP.

SleepSeal inhalation valve sample

Very good product. It helped give me a far better sleep and didn't at all wake up with a dry mouth. Didn't take me long to get used to the inhalation valve and each one lasted about 4 or five days. I am very happy with the results. Thank you.

Simple but successful

What a relief! I use an Amara View mask with my BiPAP machine set at a high pressure - and, although it is the best mask (of many) I've tried, it does have face leaks. Using the SleepSeal Valve has nearly eliminated leaks but, better still, has completely eliminated the painfully dry mouth and throat problems (and no attractive dribbles!). I had one of the best night's sleep for eight years! Thoroughly recommended for mouth breathers and more comfortable than a chin strap.

Excellent product

Fantastic product for mouth breathers. I have previously tried "taping" with micropore tape which prevents me waking up with a dry/sore throat every morning. This product is even better because it has the little vents which feel safer than normal tape. It would be nice if it could be made in skin colour as its bad enough having to wear a CPAP mask s well as mouth tape. Just a small tip I learned when I previously used tape. To remove in the morning, run your tongue around the lining to dampen it first, it makes it easier to remove without taking hair and skin with it! Would definitely purchase these once they come to market in the UK.

Not For Me
Tuesday, 7 November 2017  |

I used this product with an Amara View mask. I found the mask claustrophobic for the first few minutes, but that subsided. I will say it's excellent at preventing mouth leaks and very comfortable to wear, to the point that I couldn't feel my mask! Sadly, when I woke up this morning I had the familiar excrutiating, head pain. Now, this is obviously personal to me and not indicative to the product. I still think it was an excellent opportunity to try this product, thank you, Kath.

sleeping with you mouth stuck shut!
Monday, 6 November 2017  |

I use to wake up in the middle of the night due to a dry mouth and throat. I had tried the humidifier unsuccessfully and now use a chin strap. So the SleepSeal trial interested me.
The first night getting used to something stuck across your mouth and only being able to breath out was faster that I expected and slept well and did not wake up. It is not clear if they are intended as single night use or several, so I decided to see how many nights I could use the same sleepSeal before the adhesive gave out, So far I am up to 6 nights and have not had to used the second supplied device!
As they say it does what it say on the packet, now to work out the running costs!

SleepSeal trial
Monday, 6 November 2017  |

I tried the SleepSeal valve for two nights and it worked very well and for anyone that needs to use a nasal mask but has the problem of mouth breathing this is the ideal product.
The only down side, if you can call it a down side, is that the valve does stick and cover the whole lip area and I found it restrictive if say I wanted to yawn or some times I like a drink in the night which meant taking the valve off.

SleepSeal Inhalation Valve

I was not keen, at first, to put this over my mouth but it was fine. I had a very good night's sleep and did not wake up with an open or dry mouth. I would use this product when available in the UK.

Trial of SleepSeal Inhalation Valve

The sample comes without any instructions, which is not helpful. It consists of a lip shape, paper like plaster with a central valve. You place the plaster over your mouth and secure with 2 tabs either side. It sticks to your face very well. I used it all night & I suffer from claustrophobia. In the morning you peel it off like a plaster & throw it away. It would definitely be good for people who normally have to wear a chinstrap. I donít know how much they cost, but you need a new one every day. Peeling it off is a bit painful.

Amazing!

I am amazed at how good this simple product is. Whoever designed it is a genius. I was sceptical as so many products just don't suit me, however this was the exception. The adhesive lasted all night and was so comfortable. I had a better nights sleep than usual. I can't wait for them to become available here in the UK.
