IMPORTANT - We are still able to supply samples as the manufacturer is kindly keeping us in supply whilst we await confirmation they can be sold in the UK and Europe.  For updates, please don't email us, as we know how desperate some of our are for news, and as soon as we have updates we will send out a newsletter, so would recommend you join our NEWSLETTER LIST

REVIEWS - We have allowed reviews to show, even though these are just limited trials, so whilst it's clear to see when people have had instant success, bear in mind that with the negative ones the people only had a trial of a maximum of 2 nights, which is not always long enough to get used to a new product.  Hopefully, the reviews will still be helpful though, and we are currently collecting survey responses which will be available to review at the end of the trials.

This is a sample of the SleepSeal Inhalation Valve, which are designed to help prevent mouth leaks when using CPAP or Non-invasive Ventilation. One sample in each size will be sent, and there is no template to know which size is correct, as the manufacturer has told us the size needed will be based on comfort.  Do take note of which size you prefer, so that when these are finally able to be purchased you will know which size to choose.

It is an opportunity for people outside of the USA to try this new product in exchange for feedback, which will enable us to decide whether to stock them when they become available . (USA people can purchase direct from the manufacturer https://www.sleepseal.net/)

No charge will be made for the product - just a small cost for postage.

UPDATE:-  Progress of the CE Marking etc., to allow them to be sold in the UK and Europe is moving quickly now and we hope to have these SleepSeals available for sale soon.  Please kindly do not message us about this as we will keep everyone informed via our newsletter list which you can join on this link NEWSLETTER LIST

We have  samples available  of the SleepSeal Inhalation Valve strips on their way over from the USA manufacturer.  They are not available to purchase yet outside the USA, and you are welcome to try a sample for free.  We just ask that you pay for the postage and give us feedback.  You will be sent a link to easily leave the anonymous feedback when the sample is sent to you.

SleepSeal say:-

The SleepSeal Inhalation and Open Valve devices have been found to be highly effective in keeping the lips closed in many individuals who experience mouth leaks while using CPAP or other forms of positive pressure therapy.

In addressing mouth leaks, it can provide a more successful alternative to chin straps or full face masks and commonly completely eliminates mouth leaks.

This valve allows the user to breathe in comfortably as needed, while maintaining the natural lip seal during sleep to prevent mouth leaks and air escape out of the mouth during the night. It contains a one-way valve that directs air into the mouth if the user needs to breathe in, while prohibiting passive exhalation or air leakage. The user is able to forcefully exhale as needed. This valve can be used with CPAP or other PAP therapy to reduce or prevent mouth leaks.

INSTRUCTIONS:-

  1. Before wearing the device, make sure you do not have any residual makeup, oils, vaseline or anything else around your lips that could prevent the adhesive backing from sealing.  Your mouth and lips need to be very dry.
  2. Remove the plastic backing from the device to expose the tape.  Be careful not to tear the flaps.
  3. Close your mouth and lips normally.
  4. Position the device's valve centred directly over closed, unpursed lips and firmly press the valve into the lips.
  5. Firmly press and rub the tape starting from the valve and lip area in an outward direction until all of the tape is sealed well onto the lips and skin surrounding the mouth.
  6. Breathe normally through the nose.

THE SLEEPSEAL DEVICES ARE NOT A TREATMENT FOR SLEEP APNEA; THEY ARE ONLY DEVICES DESIGNED TO MAINTAIN THE NATURAL LIP SEAL THAT NORMALLY OCCURS DURING SLEEP, IN INDIVIDUALS WHOSE MOUTHS FALL OPEN DURING SLEEP.

Sleep Seal Inhalation valve for dry mouths
Tuesday, 3 March 2020  |

I have used the Sleep Seal Inhalation valve and found it a great success. It felt very strange when I first attached, especially as I have a beard, but it stuck very well and I fell asleep ok, waking during the night, a normal occurrence, it was still attached and my mouth was ok. I was so very pleased to wake in the morning with no dry mouth. I use a humidifier with my CPAP machine but seems to have little effect. I would recommend the Sleep Seal to anyone and home they can soon be available as a product for all.

Very effective

First night not the best, took some getting used to but second night perfect. Combined with Xylimelts cured my chronic dry mouth. I have been unable to safely use the humidifier owing to poor eyesight (I have overfilled the reservoir and ‘drowned’ my machine several times) so it is exciting to see there is an alternative solution for chronic dry mouth. Looking forward to these being available soon.

Good invention

Got the medium and large size to try. Medium size I felt was still a bit big for me but would definatley buy the small to try. Easy to apply and adhered to skin with no leaks. Did feel a bit claustrophobic at first but once lying down with Cpap on went to sleep no problem. Was easy to remove in the morning. I have used a chin strap in the past which I wasn't keen on and am using Dr Dakota's chin support at thee moment which I do like but the Sleep seal gives you freedom around your neck.

Sadly not for me
Tuesday, 7 January 2020  |

Worked well whilst breathing through my nose, only had an amazing .6 of an apnea instead of 12+, but later in the night started breathing through my mouth and couldn't cope felt I was suffocating as couldn't open my lips so had to revert to full mask. Would certainly recommend for those who cope well with just the nasal mask.

Thanks for this very honest and fair review, which is spot on! These SleepSeals are incredible for people who can breathe through their nose during sleep but like anything CPAP related, not many products will work for everyone and it was worth trying.

Fantastic Product
Wednesday, 23 October 2019  |

Using this product for one night helped me so much. I had no air leaks from my mouth so my sats monitor did not beep. It's amazing, the only reason I never gave it a five star rating is because it was slightly too big. I had the large size and I think the medium size would be perfect. I'm so impressed with this product that I've ordered through a friend in America who is going to post it to me. It's made my life so much easier. Mx

It's great to hear how beneficial the SleepSeal is for you Margaret😊 We did only have the large size when you ordered the free sample, but the manufacturer is sending us more over in the medium size and have confirmed they should be ready to purchase here in the UK in February.

Trial of sample Sleepseal valve
Monday, 24 June 2019  |

I used the sample Sleepseal with the Dreamwisp nasal mask to see if it would help stop air escaping from my mouth (I had tried the Dreamwisp nasal mask previously using my chin strap, but without success, so had returned to using my Full-face mask). Although the Sleepseal successfully kept my mouth closed, I found it disconcerting not being able to move my mouth or lick my lips. I also felt concerned about not being able to speak if I needed to, and felt that the mouth seal would be difficult to take it off in a hurry (even with the tabs). I did persist with it for a while, but as soon as I started to relax, even though it kept my mouth closed, my cheeks and lips puffed out like a balloon. Others might respond differently to it, but it seems that as I relax, my airway simply opens up to my mouth, and the difference between the cpap pressure in my mouth and the lower atmospheric pressure in the room caused my cheeks to puff out. At that point a small amount of air started to escape through the pores of the Sleepseal, and it began to get a bit damp. All in all, it was very uncomfortable and not a great success; there is no way I could sleep like that.

Response:

Thanks for your detailed review and it's a shame these didn't work for you, as they won't work for everyone, so it's great the manufacturer has provided us with these free samples.
It may be worth you trying the Dr Dakota Neck Cushion on the website to support the jaw and encourage nasal breathing when it's possible - especially for people who prefer nasal masks.

Wherever possible with larger parcels, we try to re-use boxes to keep shipping costs down and protect the environment.

If a product is out of stock and the order contains multiple items, the 'in stock' items will be sent immediately and further items will follow upon arrival with no further postage charges incurred.

Unopened (sealed) products in their original packing can be returned within 14 days for a refund of the product cost, but the purchaser is to pay the return postage, and we would advise retaining proof of postage.  This excludes any faulty goods, for which postage will be reimbursed.  A full refund for the price of the product will be issued when received by us, less the original postage charges when the order was sent to you.
