This new Silicone Hose Cleaning Tube Brush is a welcome product from the Republic of Sleep, taking away the risk of damage to hoses that can sometimes happen with wire brushes. Also, the silicone is more flexible than a bristle brush head as well as safer, and the wire is plastic-coated making it more comfortable to use, and it contains no latex. There is also a small weight on the end to feed through the tube.

The Silicone Hose Cleaning Tube Brush is compatible with most tubing - both standard 19 mm and slimmer 15 mm hoses, but will not work with the travel CPAP machines with the tiny hoses.

This cleaning brush is more expensive than the alternative wire CPAP brushes, which we've never stocked due to hearing of people accidentally damaging their hoses with them, but this new silicone one is certainly cheaper than having to replace a damaged hose! Instructions for use are included in the packaging, and they do suggest storing it as a coil, meaning less storage space is needed or it can be hung from a hook.

The CPAP Tube Cleaning Brush uses a specially designed silicone head created to clean every inch of the inside of the tube, removing harmful deposits from the space, keeping the hose cleaner with less effort.

Easy to Use and Easy to Store

This brush abandons the traditional wire design used by most tube brushes in favour of a tether-based design - a long cord that is fed through the length of the tube and pulled out the other end - making it easier to use. It’s also easier to pack and store, fitting into a smaller space with less effort.

Important:-

This Silicone Hose Brush Cleaner is compatible with most tubing, but WILL NOT work with the small tubing on travel machines such as the Philips DreamStation or Resmed Air Mini.

CPAP and ventilator hoses should be cleaned at least once a week, as advised by all the machine manufacturers to keep them dust, mould and bacteria-free. This is just as important whether or not a CPAP humidifier is used and if it's not clean and fresh an odour/unpleasant smell can end up being blown into the mask.

Peace of mind when cleaning

Although I am still slightly paranoid about whether or not I am cleaning the tubing well enough, this brush gives the tube a good scrubbing on its way through and removes a lot of the lingering water which I was finding hard to dry out. Its easy to use and gentle on the tube - I just wish I was a foot taller so using it felt less like wrestling a very skinny conger eel!!!!

Good in parts

Fine for most corrugated tubes but very difficult to use with a heated hose. Won’t fit through the angled end where the heated contacts are and then gets stuck pulling through from the other end, thought I was going to write off the whole tube but eventually with a lot of brute strength managed to remove it.

Interesting feedback Ann as many people use it with no problems with their heated hose. You can soak the heated hoses though in soapy water as long as it's dried well before attaching back onto the machine, which might help clean that end part you're struggling with the brush with.

Although a bit pricey, it seems strong and well made with no assembly or additional bits required - one piece so no bits to loose. Its silicone ‘flappy brush’ head is less likely to cause damage or puncture the hose than the more conventional wire type brushes. Also the pull through action seems less inclined to snag or score the inside of the tube. Works great on the slimmer 15mm bore hose that I use. The weighted cord threads through the tube easily and is floppy rather than springy, so easy to handle and roll up for storing. There’s an additional hole on the brush-end that would allow you to attach a further bit of cord or string in order to clean out longer hoses or use with a push - pull action. At just over 7 foot long, it is of a comfortable length to clean a standard 6 ft hose.

I used to clean my hose by soaking and rinsing, but this brush together with some cheap washing up liquid, gives me a good reassuring clean with the added friction and more surface contact it provides. I’m confident that it will dislodge anything that may be lurking in the humid environment of the tube - mould, bacteria, dust, biofilm or smells and not score the inside of the tube to allow the former to attach.

I found it useful for doing an initial wash of a new hose to remove any manufacturing residues that might be there - imagined or otherwise.

I also found that a pull through after a final rinse removes a lot of the water droplets from the inside of the hose and speeds up drying time.

As with cleaning anything 6 ft long, it requires a bit of technique to thread it through and pull it out. I find that loosely tying one end of the tube to a door handle helps speed up the whole process.

Yes, I really like this brush. I used to just slosh water from one end to the other whilst in the shower, now I feel I can get really clean, just wish I could get something to really dry it out in winter. But really happy thanks.

A really useful find

A four-star rating because I have not had the hose cleaning brush long enough to assess its durability and a possible five stars.
However, this simple, well-designed piece of equipment has answered the problem of cleaning my CPAP tubing.
The 'brush' comes with a long cord which is weighted making it straightforward to thread through the tube. It requires some effort to pull the brush through but this contributes to its ability to clean thoroughly. As I have only recently purchased the 'brush', I cannot say how well it will last. It appears to be strong and it is easy to clean.
The biggest problems with it are where to store it when not in use and its cost.
£25 seemed a lot of money to pay for it but, if the 'brush' continues to perform well over several years, it will be money well spent.
I wish all CPAP users could try one.

I like this item very much. It does a great job of keeping my CPAP tube clean. The only thing that I have done to make it better is put a piece of cotton cloth at the end to take any watter droplets out. It is well worth the money plus you get a great service from Hope2sleep

Shipping

We try our best to ship all orders received by us Monday-Friday on the same working day if received before 12 noon, and more often than not orders processed before 3pm will be despatched the same day whenever possible. Weekend or UK bank holiday orders are sent out the next working day. An automated email is sent when products have been despatched so please check your spam box and add us to your safe senders list. Also, if you do not receive an email confirmation, please check that you have typed the correct email address in your account.

All orders are sent via 1st class mail within the UK. Masks and some other more expensive products are always sent via 'signed for' insured delivery and cannot be left in 'safe' places, but there is the option for an alternative shipping address when processing the orders.

Delivery charges are worked out automatically by weight and you can clearly see the delivery charges before making a payment. On the rare occasion delivery charges are miscalculated by the website, a refund will be sent, as it is not our policy to make money on postage charges and neither do we add the cost of delivery into the price and offer so-called 'free delivery' like some sites and Ebay pressurise sellers to do!

Wherever possible with larger parcels, we try to re-use boxes to keep shipping costs down and protect the environment.

If a product is out of stock and the order contains multiple items, the 'in stock' items will be sent immediately and further items will follow upon arrival with no further postage charges incurred.

Important for International Orders

We can ship most products internationally, but all prices are in UK British Pounds and if paying by debit or credit card the bank will automatically convert to the current conversation rate. Likewise, if you choose the Paypal option, they will convert into your currency for you as payment is made.

International orders are sent via tracked Airmail, and whilst we're happy to ship internationally, we cannot be held responsible for any delays at Customs at your end, or charges that may be added in your own country, such as customs fees and import tax on delivery, which are determined by your country’s import laws and are beyond our control. Therefore, it is the customer’s responsibility to pay these charges, and certain courier companies will not be able to deliver the goods to you without pre-payment of any charges. From our experience, it appears to be randomised as to which parcels incur extra charges, but please know that all accompanying paperwork is filled in correctly when shipping and there is nothing more we can do, as much as we'd like to.

If you purchase from us out of the UK or you move to another country after purchasing products, please be aware that the warranty for CPAP machines, masks and parts from the manufacturers are under warranty with the manufacturer based in the UK, so you will be responsible for sending the product back to us and will need to pay postage to get the product back to you after exchange or repair, as the manufacturer will not pay for shipping in any country outside of the UK.

RETURNS

Masks, CPAP machines and and most other products are exempt from a refund or exchange unless faulty due to health and hygiene issues - as stated in our 'Terms and Conditions', and in particular due to the risk of cross contamination as they cannot be re-sold. The Consumer Contracts Regulations 28.(3)(a) confirms exemption as follows:- "exemption in the case of a contract for the supply of sealed goods which are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons, if they become unsealed after delivery."

Unopened (sealed) products in their original packing can be returned within 14 days for a refund of the product cost, but the purchaser is to pay the return postage, and we would advise retaining proof of postage. This excludes any faulty goods, for which postage will be reimbursed. A full refund for the price of the product will be issued when received by us, less the original postage charges when the order was sent to you.

VAT DECLARATION/INFORMATION

Most of the products we sell are eligible for Zero Rated VAT in the UK, and in order to qualify, you should meet the criteria for the following HMRC VAT Declaration:-

You or the person you are purchasing on behalf of have "a condition that the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness, that is a long term health condition" (sleep apnoea and sleep disordered breathing, which require therapy, are such conditions).
"The goods or services are for the personal or domestic use of the customer."

Please note, you do not need to be registered as disabled or in receipt of any other benefits in order to be eligible for VAT relief - you only need to meet the criteria of the above 2 points.

We cannot advise on individual cases, but more information can be found on HMRC’s website under notice 701/7 on the following link https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/vat-notice-7017-vat-reliefs-for-disabled-people.

If you are not eligible for Zero Rated VAT then please make sure that the VAT Relief box in unticked so that VAT is applied to the order.
